Hello
I have an problem with one of mine 701s, When i power up the crt ! only the blue tube lights up
And after a few seconds the crt shut down with the next error SF LED.
So i looked up in the error guide and it said this
The SF LED means that the set has a horizontal or vertical deflection failure. The HV will shut down as well when a scan fail occurs.
So which boards needs to be replaced ? Also an other question can i convert an 701 to an 701S ?
Greetings Trunks

Sounds like the blue tube is shorted, or the neckboard is bad. That's overloading the set, and I'll bet it's the HV shutdown LED that's coming on, not the scan fail.
Pull the blue neck board and see if the red and green work properly.
You can convert to a 701s, you need three neck boards. Frankly, I don't think it's worth doing.

Hello Curt
Thnx for the advize tube whas indeed shorted to a vault i made !
The pins at the end whas bended, end did not make proper contact.
The reason i want to convert a 701 to a 701s is that the 701 had burned tubes and yhe tubes i have for an 701s are way better. So all i need is the neckboards ? or also the CPU Unit ?

No, just the neckboards, and maybe the frames around lenses that hold the tubes in place. I think they are a bit different. I've never done a swap though, so proceed at your own risk. I have tested Sony tubes in the 701s set just by swapping the neck boards, so electronically it will work.

Swapping the tubes work without any problems, Just change the neckboards.
Another Question if i start up the projector i see a different screen than mine BG808s
So the text there is changed. How can i change this back to normal ?
