Spanky, have a look what Curt charges for PGs, youll see it IS a good deal. Curt doesnt rip people off, ive seen no evidence to sugest that.

$1,000 for a digital gets you the cheapest LCD money can buy here, you may get a rainbow riddled DLP for about $699, but i wouldnt touch it and neither would you.

$1,000 USD is not $1,000 AUD, its more like $1,545 AUD, so $900 here is like $550 USD, if that. Starting to look better all the time.

A digital projector for $1,000 AUD will have a contrast ratio about 400 or 500:1, and wont be better than 800x600 res. It aint worth a damn really. $900 for a projector with a much longer life span, 1600x1200 res, and at least 15,000:1 contrast is pretty bloody good.

I dont know Dave, and i dont know where he is, or how he got a projector "he likes" for $1,000 USD, but i can tell ya now it wont do for me. If i hadve known years ago i could still get a CRT and it wouldnt cost me the price of a new Corvette, id have bought one then!!

But all said and done, i apreciate your input on the subject, youre entitled to your opinion on the matter just like everyone else is, and im certainly not going to hold anything against you for exercising your right to speak your mind. Wink

What frequency are you running on 1080i? If its 72Hz or more you probably dont notice any flicker, where as LCD are pretty near all 60Hz, and i know both mine flicker abit when 1080i goes in.

If the rig youve got will almost do 1080p, you should be able to do a respectable scan rate on 1080i, cause its only displaying half the lines. Ill have to wait til i get mine and see what i see Wink

Uh, I'm not sure what frequency... whatever the PS3 outputs. On a really white shot you can see the scanlines if you are less than 6 feet to the screen, but that doesn't happen often. It looks pretty good.

Mark, I'm pretty sure his will smoke mine, but I'm hoping mine puts up a nice fight and it's not a night and day comparison. I know CRT is much more film like. Even nice digitals under $5k still look artificial to me, though I have yet to see a new 1080p LCD digital. I'm really looking forward to the comparison. Still if it looks 75% as good as his, I'm still way ahead since I paid just over half of what he did and I'll get about 4 times the life out of my tubes. He did get 1 spare bulb in the deal though.

He's an I.T. guy and loves his gadgets. He's not into "old tech". I'm just happy he got a projector. Anyone who likes movies needs one, even if it's a digital.

He had a really bad experience with a CRT RP T.V. and won't give this technology a chance. He seemed impressed when he saw it last. It was the push for him to get one.

Its here as of yesterday, just started pulling it apart last night. The tubes dont show any wear at all that i can see, looks almost like its never been used. Should be good for a hell of alot of hours yet, considering that between the 2 Epsons here one is about 2 years old, the other is about 18 months, one has 600 hrs on it, and the other has under 500. So about an average of 1,000 hrs over 3 years, it will take me about 30 years to reach 12,000 hrs on the NEC.

I wont get time to get these tubes bled today, i have to go and put a new distributor in my Corvette.

Sweet! The passenger right side on a C4 is narrow...Bet that can get a little cramped, forgot about the airbags...That makes the conversion even more complex. I've got an LT1-6 speed (engine tran only) sitting next to the the 65, its non-original motor so kicked around the idea of putting that in it. If you need an AC compressor I have one I'll never use.

Yeah mate, its narrow, but doesnt matter with an auto, they do usually make it deeper though to match the depth of the left. Manual doesnt matter either, cause if the conversion is done properly the footwell on the right is widend up abit, as well as made the same depth as the left footwell.

The car is for sale at the moment, ive been driving this one every day for about 4 years, so its time for a change. Had the 87 before that for about 6 years, and drove it every day too.

Anyone that says its hard to replace an optispark distributor on an LT1/LT4 engine is not trying hard enough. That was the first time ive gone in there just for that job, and i expected it to be alot worse. Was pretty easy really!! Smile

Ill get onto bleeding these tubes tomorrow, i need a beer now!! Wink
