|
|
I have always had this problem with my 9500 , the pictures say it all , to the left of the screen the image sags down . When I Phase to the right a bit it clears up , Its like I'm too far into the edge of the raster , but how do I fix this . My mechanical setup is perfect and looking into the tubes my picture is perfectly centre on all 3 . Is there no raster centre adjustment on the marquee ?? I have also tried every porch adjustment from HTPC but just can't get rid of it . What have I done ? Thanks

Hello
All Marquees do that, just go into Service Green Converge (conv, 5, 0901, 2) and pull the edge up so it is straight.

I had the same issue, i bet its the deflection coil not centered on the tube. Go into a different memory or channel you don't use so you don't loose your Convergence on this one.
Reset that memory block and then reset the Convergence for it too, i am not sure if this will reset it all and maybe a complete re-initialization of the set is needed as you want all geometry to be reset as it was never set up. Now look at the grids for all the colors and see if they are level. if not you need to level the grid by the convergence yoke. it need to be unglued and slightly rotated. one they are level everything stays aligned much better and its easier to do geometry too.
But it might be something a lot easier like what Tim said.

I Tried that , but cant get it right , also If you display an all white image on the left of screen where it sags you get distinct ringing manifesting in faint black vertical lines . Again if you Phase to the left this dissapers . I had this problem On an XG and it turned out to be Raster centre problem . I wonder if I can correct it by electronically phasing to the right until is dissapears and then compensating somehow with the magnentics

That be weird for all three to be out, I bet when you set it up one was off and you just converged the others to it right? here is a pic of how mine looked. Where did you Buy the PJ? If you bought it from this side of the equator i wonder if the different magnetic fields down under would cause that for all three tubes? It could be. But I never heard anyone else mention it before. Just a thought.

Hello
I cannot remember a Marquee that did not sag a little at the lower left, so fix it in Green Point Converge.

It not just lower left Its the entire left of picture , Green convergence doesnt help , I'm steering toward over correction in electronic adjustment to compensate for bad magnetic setup . BTW the magnetics are from 8500 , dont know if that effects things ?

I had this same problem with my blue tube only, like what Athanasios had with his red tube.
My solution was the same as his. Do a complete projector initialization, and then do a full magnetic, mechanical and electronic setup.
I used Bill Blue's Marquee Magnetics Setup 101 guide, which I highly recommend using.
It's going to take some time, but you'll be glad you did.

You must have your computer wired directly to you, as you always reply so fast!
My 8500 is working wonderfully. I recently picked up an HDFury for cheap so I could play around with 1080p from my HD-A35. I did a quick convergence, and it looks great. I'll do some more calibration today and get it dialed in nicely. At some point I'll get either the Moome EXT-FULLHD or the HDFury2, but I couldn't pass up the deal on the HDFury.
At some point I'm thinking of upgrading my receiver to something like the Onkyo TX-SR876, which will upscale all inputs to 1080p, and it also has separate ISF calibration adjustments for each input, which is way cool.

Hey Athanasios, after I got my projector running yesterday, (I posted "ITS ALIVE" in another thread because I was thrilled to see it up and running again) I was working on my setup. My red grid, in the upper left is distorted just as yours is in this picture, except the distortion in mine is more pronounced, and runs in the opposite direction (up rather than down). As you know, I followed your suggestions in modifying my VDM and CVA. Its interesting to see this on your projector too. Have you fixed this? I cannot get the convergence right on the top left portion of my screen.
I was planning on pulling out my CVA and taking a bunch of measurements on the red channel to see if I can find anything out of whack, and then trying my unmodified CVA to see if I can isolate the problem. Thoughts?

do what i mentioned earlier in the thread. you need to re initialize the PJ and put up all the grids. Are they level? If not you can first try the focus coil to shift them but it might not twist the Grid to be level and only move it left and right up and down. You may need to adjust the very first coil on the tube. The Deflection Coil. It has to be unglued and
turned while the PJ is running so you can look at the grid and make sure it is level. Its detailed on Tims Site. That is what Carl and I had to do, im pointed it out to me Via E-mail earlier this year.

I'll try that, but here is the thing that I find confusing. Most of the grid is level, formed by a set of lines running either vertically or horizontally. At the upper left hand corner, however, the top 5 or 6 horizontal grid lines bend upwards at a 20 degree angle. On my projector, this upward departure begins at the second vertical line from the left.
I had thought that the adjustment described on Tim's site would move the entire grid.
