Hi

I have just following the dummies guide to greyscale using my PS3 as the source with DVE HD Basics blu-ray. I also have my HTPC connected to the same screen I have been calibrating.

I would like to run a greyscale test with HTPC as the source and my HTPC running HCFR, is this possible or do I require another PC running HCFR?

Thanks

Mark

Mark,

Same HTPC that is exactly how I do it. The probe is plugged into my HTPC and runs closed loop. Push one button/icon and HCFR will do full grey scale, primary, and secondary color measurements automatically. Just sit back and wait.

I prefer this to running a separate source CD because I can make more adjustments and sample the results much faster. So I get more iterations per hour.

I've been thinking about this, too... You can do it that way, but you'd have to make sure the HTPC was "neutral" - i.e. same gamma, color, etc. as the other sources - or else you'd be calibrating the HTPC only and everything else would be wrong... Right?

SC true. The same can be said for all sources.

In my case I run the HTPC through input 'B' and the PJ loads a custom COLOR/TEMP setting. My HD runs through input 'A' and the PJ loads the default 6500K color setting. That covers 99% of my viewing.
