Jeeze.

I'm thinking of running romex.

Peace,

That should work just fine Mr. Green

So, the signal where it's getting recorded to the master - a tiny signal (relatively speaking) - it all goes through hundreds of feet of "pedestrian" cable but, you're going to make the sound MUCH better by using 30 feet of some $2000 cable between your amp and speakers.

Mmm hmm.

Can we get this quote put on a header at the top of the audio forum? Thumbs Up

You name the time and place... some of us will show up... I'm looking for an excuse to travel back to Colorado... went there once to visit the U. What a beautiful town and campus.

Call it! Thumbs Up

I use romex for my main speakers (front LR) becuase it has a good solid sound, possibly due to the solid copper conductors. I run a 12 gauge monster cable for my center (no good reason) and I use extension cords for my surrounds as they are furthest from the amp and I wanted a cable that was meant to go the distance.

Hmm... I guess a good solid sound is alright. But, I went with a 12 ga stranded cable for a sound with much finer detail. With all the air in between the conductors, it also sounds more open and airy.

Seriously, I went with BJC Twelve White. It's Belden 5000UE in a custom white jacket made just for BJC. It's a little more attractive in the rack than the standard gray. 61 cents/foot. You don't need to think about 10-ga unless you're going well over 100 feet, or you're driving very low-impedance loads.

Here's the Roger Russell wire gauge/length table:

i'm up for it but we should wait for the Spring thaw so we can at least run the grill. I'm also worried about my inability to provide a triple stack of 9" projectors showing on a 50 feet screen. Mr. Green
We've had a couple of HT meets at my house last 2 years, they are always fun but there wasn't much time for audio and it's also very hard to do some dedicated listening with a dozen drunk guys in the room. Laughing I wouls also have to borrow a few sets of cables so do some real ABA. I gaurantee anyone wioth decent hearing would hear a difference, maybe not on speaker cables but most definitely on interconnects.

About 22 hours. Des Moines is right on the way about 13 hours from Toronto. You can stay over here, and we'll go out for dinner and drinks. Smile

LOL 22 hours eh? Maybe later. It all depends on what set of wheels is running at the time.

Hey, I will be there the weekend before Thanksgivin. Dragan is taking me to the AC/DC concert tuesday night! Woot!

BTW, Stereophyle and Absolute Audio magazines printed alot of articles on this subject of listening tests. They feel they need to keep printing this information because of such widespread ingnorance on the subject. DoubleBlind tests simply do not work and is based on bad science. AudioAsylum has banned this topic entirely. If you bring up the subject in the forum you will get a warning and the thread will be removed. lol

they banned logic and science at the audio "asylum', does that surprise anyone? Laughing
I don' t think I need to be blindfolded to listen to equipment, and If I don't hear a difference then that's too bad for the snake oil peddlers. I gaurantee everyone herewould here a difference swapping cables, not in every circumstance by any means but certain cases most definitely.
