Anybody have any experience with Monitor 9's? If so, whats the skinny on them? A colleague 'may' be upgrading, so I 'may' be able to get these from him.
The speakers I have now are a joke. About two apartments ago, I sacrificed a decent hodge-podge of infinity and polk towers that were taking up too much space. I got an Onkyo HTIB speaker set. You know just the speakers, no receiver or DVD player. They were rated great on CNET, but they sound exactly like I thought Onkyo HTIB speakers would sound, and Ive been dying to get some new speakers.
What would be the most you would pay for a good condition set of Monitor 9s and a matching center channel?
I see no history of the mains on ebay.

I've listened to the Monitor 9's. Nice speakers. A little thin on the mid bass if I recall.
I remember liking the Monitor 11P's better at the time. They were fuller sounding.
But hey if you can get them for a 'song' why not? They will be better than HTIB speakers.

I hope I can convince the guy to get new speakers and let me have those. I love playing devil's advocate. Its almost more fun knowing you convinced somebody to do something than actually getting the speakers for a cheap price.

So, I got them. One word..totally f'n awesome. Better than anything I have ever owned. AR, youre right they are a little thin on the bass. I guess thats what subwoofers are for anyway.
My wife even said that it sounds like there is a band in our living room. This coming from the woman who told me there was no difference as I switched between 2 channel and DTS during a movie. This, was, a couple of years ago. I think Im slowly changing her into a audio/videophile in the making.
I guess I can add speakers to the things I like from Canada, which up until this point only had beer on it.

I have a complete set of Paradigm speakers. Not the monitor series, but the Reference Series (100's, ADP, yadda, yadda, yadda), and I love them. I did not think I had an ear and couldn't tell the difference between speakers but I was wrong. If you can get a good set of Monitors for cheap then I say you have nothing to lose.

All well known facts...
Its my duty as an American to put down Canada whenever I can. And before this gets thrown in the seperate politics forum, its not a political thing, its a nationalism thing.
