Yeah, I expected it to be as good as The Incredibles. Little disappointed it was not.

Oh man, you guys are killing me... Clarence with your screen shots! Incredibles... Cars... The anticipation is driving me nuts! If only I could take a week off and finish my damn room!
I got the screen laminated to particle board this weekend and my buddy and I almost killed ourselves taking it downstairs on the frame I built. I still need to get the cleat bolted onto the wall to hang it. But, we'll watch Sopranos in HD in the theater this Sunday, I think finally.
Screen shots to come... soon!

I see bad sparklies on it and it hot spots. One of the local Guys with a G90 had the same problem.
I'm quickly coming to the point where I think there are really 4 screens worth using:
Best Money no limit -- Studiotek 130
Very good commercial -- Dalite Cinemavision/Hurley Superglo
Very good DIY -- Wilsonart
To put it the way one of the local guys did, there really is something special about the Studiotek 130--nothing looks as good. It looks fantastic, I just can't justify the expense.

I'm running a barco data 701 with the ultramatte 200. Do you think I'll have a issue with hot spotting. Stewart's site says the 200 does not hot spot on low light output crt projectors.

Guys... I'm "gitten' er done!
Got the WilsonArt DW screen hung up this weekend. We nearly killed ourselves getting it into the basement. OK, I'm exaggerating, but it was F'in heavy. I kind of overbuilt because I wanted to use the scrap for shelves instead of throwing away a bunch of wood (it's 96x54, so two 27"-wide strips, and two 21" strips of left-over). Probably not the best idea in hindsight because of weight, but the thing is flat - that's for sure.
I'm pretty impressed so far, as is everybody who's seen it. I haven't even had a chance to do anything but a quick tweak to an old setup... a friend who has an XGA digital remarked, "Man, you're really spoiling me!"
Re: Hotspotting... The only time I noticed any hotspotting at all was when my HD Tivo displayed a dark grey screen for half a second or so before it started playing a file... I saw a little color reflection in the center of the screen. I never noticed it at all during any video, solid colors or even bright white. I have the perfect situation for it to show up, in that my eyes are probably in almost the perfect spot on a reflected axis from the lenses.
The room's a miss right now, but I'll take some pics in a few days. Thanks to Clarence and everyone for the data-gathering on the WilsonArt DW.

If you don't see hotspotting and sparklies, I'd be surprised.

Any one know how well Stewart UltraMatte 150 works?
Just FYI, it's half gain is 35 degrees verses 75 degrees for Studiotek 130 and 26 degrees for UltraMatte 200.

As I was one of the biggest critics (along with Bruce Can) of Ruben, this doesn't surprise me. I just believed that he went into this with the intent of making money. That is fine, but is hardly the spirit of DIY. It has been awhile but I believe Bruce found almost the exact same material that Ruben sells.

Yeah! I thought it was sh*tty of Ruben to cut off the DIY sales without warning. It was DIY that got him were he's at. It will be interesting to see how his forum survives. From a business prospective, I think you should be able to do both DIY, supplying the raw material, and finished product.
Spanky:
Do you have Bruce Can's contact info? I'd be interested in the material he found.

Has anyone found Wilsonart Designer White D354-60 in Canada?
I'm going to Home Depot and Rona to have a look.

I am one of the people who bought some of that screen material off of eBay. It works fine but I have no frame of reference.
Does anyone have some extra Wilsonart DW material, perhaps the end that you cut off of your storebought piece in order to achieve your desired AR? I'd love to put a piece directly in front of my existing screen so I can see for myself what I am missing.
I would be happy to pay you some $ for the trouble of sending it to me.

I have a piece of scrap left over in the garage. It's probably only 4-5" wide x 96" or so long, so it's not a very wide piece. But, a 5"x10" chunk would be better to look at than the little 1.5x2 sample chips you can get from Lowes or HD. I tried using a sample chip to hold up to my temp screen and it's utility was pretty questionable.
Let me know if anybody wants a small chunk, and I'll cut one off and stick it in an envelope to mail.

I'm in Dundas(part of Hamilton now) and Rona got it for me in about 3 days. My screen is a 100" diagonal and the standard sheet size is 49" x 97" so all i had to do was trim some off the length.
I've been using DW for about 3 months and i'm happy with it.

Home Depot I got a blank stare. They offered Formica brand matte white.
Then I went to Rona and found it. D354-60 Designer white. 1 week if they have it in stock and 4 weeks if they have to order it. 4 x 8 sheet about $90 and 5 x 12 sheet about $120.

Well it was about 110.00 Cdn if i remember right and that was including the delivery charge to my local Rona.
It took 3 days as it was in stock at Wilsonart which has a distribution centre in Toronto. I ve been in front projection since 1995 and this is certainly is one of the best bang for the buck screens i've seen . This stuff is almost indestructable as its made for counter tops and its easy to work with and mount. There's plenty of tech info over on AVS.
Guess it helps when a guys been in the renovation business for 30 years and has worked with laminates before.

Just wondering.
