Digging up this oldie and hoping Clarence checks in... Clarence, in one post you said your screen was 61" high? How? Did I just misread that? The stuff only comes in 5'x whatever, so that would max it at 60"

It comes an inch wider and longer than listed.

So a 5'x12' sheet is really 61"x145".

Despite the lavendar white created by the Wilsonart DW I think its still a great option for the price. However, has anyone, like Aurel said, tried the ultra white laminate? The only downside I could possibly see with this option would be hotspotting.

After that post awhile back about the ultra white, I went and looked at the Wilsonart site, and I think it may not be available in the US... The only "whites" listed on their site are these:

Crystal Topaz 4582-7
Designer White D354-60
Frosty White 1573-60
Ivorywood 7213-60
Oxygen EV 4809-60
White 1570-60
White Suede 2904-60

As for the lavender look of the RGB equivalents, those came from the thread over at the A-site where somebody used an incident spectrometer or something to get RGB equivalents of different screen materials. The DW material certainly doesn't look that pink in reality, nor in comparison to some of the other materials. Not sure why there's such a striking difference in the RGB displays. Certain monitors may or may not render grayscale very well at the extreme ends of the luminance scale, too. I know my CRT looked much different than the LCD display in my MacBook Pro. Take those images with a grain of salt - the DW looks very white in person.

Well thats good to know, those colors did seem pretty extreme. Looks like I'll be going to my local HD to order some. BTW what is the typical size this comes in 4x8 or 5x8? I can make about 96'' screen with the 4 and almost reach a 110'' with the 5 foot screen. Bigger is always better but I think 96 would be ok. Wink

Asked Lowe's today about getting a 5x8 sheet of WilsonArt DW. They quoted me $80-something and 12-14 days to get it. Geez. I'm going to try to call the distributor directly tomorrow and see how price/turnaround compares.

How's that price compare to what you guys are finding?

Wait just a dog-gone minute! I just checked and it is going to be $45.53 s/h!! WOW!!!

Maybe I need to check with Lowes and see what they say. Also, I can wait a few weeks at that price......

Ok, I went to a different Home Depot today; a newer one. They had a display with all the Wlisonart colors and textures. The display pieces were about 1"x2". I found someone that had an "idea" of what was going on. He looked up the price, and said is was $2.30 sq ft. So for a 5'x8' piece, was of course $92.00. But, I did not get any info on special handling, or extra shipping. I'll go and check that out tomorrow.

I'll also ask if I can get a refund if I don't like it.

I am also going to check at Lowes this weekend.

Anybody find anything better on line?

Well, some things work out for the good some times.

I go to Lowes on Saturday, and wait for about 10 minutes for someone to help me with the Wilsonart. No good. There was only 1 person there in the kitchen department, and she was busy selling, well, kitchens from what I could see. C 'ya. Can't wait as we have other shopping to do at other stores.

So, on the way home, we stop at Home Depot (the old one I don't like) for some plants and stuff, and I sez to wife, "I'm going to the kitchen department to check and see if they have the Wilsonart display. Sure enough, they do. Now, can I get someone to help me? Yea, right. 45 minutes later, I am talking with a manager and letting her know I am not happy.

Getting to the point - The manager takes my phone number and the Wilsonart product info. She calls me back at home 3 hours later and sez she will order the stuff (5'x8') and waive s/h and give me an extra 10% discount. COOL!!!

Total cost to me: $62.70..... Tight!

Hopefully, it will be there next weekend in 1 piece.

I'll let you know.

Well, wouldn't you know; just when I think I got a good deal, along comes a reply form a local Wilsonart distributor. Below is the reply from the rep:

The item part #D354-60-107 is available in the 5x8’ sheet size you have requested.
The cost of this Wilsonart material is $2.05 a square foot. At Reico Distributors we have a Laminate Commodity Program that offers discounted prices on some of our patterns.

The pattern you have selected is sold at .84 a square foot if you purchase a 4x8 or a 5x12.

The laminate may be picked up in either Springfield, VA or Elkridge, MD on the same day you order it or we would be happy to deliver it to your location for an additional $35.00.

More Wilsonart laminate screenshots...

"Cars" on Starz HD... It looked pretty good. Not as nice as "The Incredibles". But I was really glad to see it OAR.

The opening scene is a perfect CRT demo... a series of complete blackouts (I couldn't see my hand in front of my face), followed by rushes of fast, intense color and roaring sound.

It sends chills down my back and makes me grin. Cliff will be here Friday night... he's gonna frickin' love that scene. I burned it to HDDVD for this weekend's blendzilla meet.
