Due to some remodelling my 11/94 Barco 1208/2 was put aside for awhile (9 months) and was anxious to set it up with my direct tv receiver combined with Moone's EXT-HD BOX to watch the start of the football season. using the hdmi out from the receiver to the EXT-HD box and the vga output to port 3 The picture was fantastic. even without any focusing or converging. I changed the setting output to see what out put I liked better, decided on 720p and looked back at the screen and it was fuzzy and way out of focus. It had given a great picture at that output already. so what happened , no weird noise or smell

I first suspected Moone's box just because it was the newest link, bypassed with a dvd player and different cable, same port 3, same problem

Went to adjust menu , I could barely read the lettering, set it to focus ,green cross hatch pattern and the lines and dots looked as fat as when my wife was 9months pregnant. but she was definitely a whole lot cuter. no adjustment seemed to do any thing to it , the red and blue seemed off but not like the green, it stayed the same with an internal patten or outside pattern.

The barco logo and projector info screen look terrific, but thats about it .

The only red light I noticed was on the H-output board, the one directly in front of the flat cable connector.

Reseated all the cards with a generous sprinkling of magic crt/football dust, no change.

So did the H-output board go bad since the the green lines are so fat , and the red led ? or something in front of the WY-output board, so its getting a bad signal and red led? or something closer to the green tube? did I screw up by changing the output resolution too quickly on the dtv receiver. or did I envoke Murphy's law by trying to setup at 3:30am on the day of the football game,( i live on the left coast and everything starts early on Sunday)

I have not tried any other input ports ,but i don't think that would make a difference. since it had the same problem with out any signal hooked up and using internal menu.

At least the Buffalo Bills kicked Seahawks butt, but my 5 year old was miffed she couldn't watch cartoons on the big screen

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
Michael

Hmmmm. Barco logo and info screen still look fine? Have you tried going back to a lower resolution to see if its better?

yes its the same problem on any resolution, even on any of the green adjust, service , ect menu's, though there is vertical roll at the resolutions below 720p on the direct tv receiver & moones ext hd, also tried using rgbhv to port, same way out of focus green also . same also with a dvd/tuner direct to port 3, maybe I lost all my memory blocks, and just need to refocus and reconverge, but the green is so far off I can't even read the service menu. but again screen is okay on barco,s id screen, I also have alow volume high frequency chirp coming out of one of the cards on the right I'll try and track down.

If the screen went out of focus, you either have focus board or HV/EHT problems.

What's the number on your horizontal board? I may have one you could swap in to check it.

Chances are your HV is fluctuating based on the amount of light output of the tubes. That will change the focus and the size of the image.

I saw similar problem on other threads, seems like I need to undo the leads from each tube from the splitter one at a time to isolate and see which one eliminates the problem.
