I have an old, but seldome used Mitsubishi 21" professional display monitor at the officce. We use to use it for trade shows. It's got a bit of a convergence problem and the picture's a little soft.
Would the tabs on the back of the tube improve this situation?

Those tabs are usually for image centering, focusing and astigmatism (beam spot shaping), but there might be a set for convergence, especially if red, green, and blue are rotated in relation to each other.

it's off by a line's width at the corners and a little fuzzy in the middle.

Well without a model number I cant be specific but on most of these Mitsu monitors, the tabs are for convergence compensation which for the most part is like raster centering. It may or may not help your issue, however these monitors have a factory service menu which has various adjustment including convergence. If you got a model number I can see what I have but even if I dont have that specific manual I should still be able to get you into the factory menu. You could try the rings if you want but mark them with a marker or something before you move them in case you need to put them back where they were originally.

Yeah I'll try that. I'll grab the model number. I'll be at the office this Sunday.

Hi guys
My old 21" TV is a KV 21T3A and during these 10 years the red has gone out of convergence, particularly at corners.
Now that I have a bit of experience with CRT projectors, is there a way to adjust convergence of this kind of TV?
Ciao
Antonio

I can enter the service mode, but I don't know what to do in it. I write down all the numbers and thinkered with the value of the main service menu "adjust", but none of it will change the convergence.

Antonio. Convergence on that set is not done through the service menu. It is done manually and can be very difficult. It can involve magnets on the back of the tube, rotating the magnets on the neck and moving the wedges for the deflection yolk. There is also a pot on the neckboard. It should be marked "RV702 H. Stat" . This will affect all color shift of the pattern and can sometimes correct minor convergence problems if you get lucky. If you can put a crosshatch pattern on there, you can try turning that one to see if it helps. If you want to tackle the regular convergence I can send you the manual but believe me, its very difficult. You could spend hours, make it worse and then throw it out the window..................

Thanks Mc.
Just as reference, would be more difficult than adjust the magnets on a 3CRT projector set?
I really like to have the manual if it's not a problem for you. I will PM my e.mail.
Thanks for your help
Ciao

Oh, and just as another note. You need to degauss the tube before you do any adjustments. If you dont have a coil, maybe you can borrow one. This may be all that is wrong with it. Degaussing is normal procedure before making any adjustments. Failure to do so may result in being unable to achieve your objective.
