I wouldnt be too upset to get a cine9 Very Happy . I might end up renting the uhaul trailer for my stuff, but then the big problem is who is going to help me carry the pj from my truck to the new house. I suppose I could wait for the movers to get there and just ask them to take it out of my truck. I am moving to the country and there arent any neighbors within sight. What an awkward way to start a neighborly relationship. But I might have to do it.

Ever buy a tent from Walmart, go camping for a week, then return the tent? Me neither, I would never take advantage of Walmart's employees' lack of pride in their jobs. Embarassed

If you are moving by a regular truck carrier like Mayflower/United, Bekins, North American, Allied, Atlas, etc you can just insist on them providing some "decking" if you expect the floor to be fully-loaded. Most trucks will have decking bars and plywood on hand anyway.. Basically they can put a few decking bars across the truck (2 or 3 bars for every 4 feet of deck), put a piece of plywood on it, and you have a new rigid platform to hold stuff above the other items. Put a bar across the front end of the deck and nothing can shift forward. Cargo will generally only shift forward in a truck due to braking--you can leave the lenses on the projector, just face them towards the back of the truck and don't put anything behind it. These trucks are all air ride equipped, so the projector would have a far better ride than in your car anyway. Put some pads over it, push it hard against the side wall and the forward bar and put a strap over it.

Movers don't like to be instructed.. but they do NOT know best how to move things like projectors and aren't really concerned about treating your belongings well.. They just want to get out of there. You can dictate to them how you want things to be done, don't be meek. Most household movers won't do things like build decks over other items simply out of laziness.. It only takes 2 minutes to do. If the deck has to be built high, you can build a temporary deck to stand on so you can get the projector up there. Keep on eye on how they are packing stuff and tell them how you would like it to be done. They don't like this, but it's your stuff. Take pictures of their packing job if you don't like how they are doing things, and get in there and pack stuff properly if you want.

I've packed dozens of trucks for museum exhibitions and I gave up on the moving company-provided help years ago.. Something was ALWAYS damaged from improper packing, so I just stay in the truck and make sure they are doing things the way I want them to be done. No moving company is any better than the other, it all comes down to the help.

Household trucks are often equipped with 150+ moving pads at at least 12' of decking. You can specify what you want them to bring and if they don't bring it, don't let them work until they get it there. You are giving them business, don't let them push you around.. If you specify it, the moving company expects the driver to provide it.. the drivers are usually owner/operators that contract to the company, and they might not pick up stuff just out of laziness. The company will be as mad at them as you are.

of course, if you will have some floor space left over in the truck, you won't have to bother with decking.. just make sure the projector is loaded LAST, lenses facing rearward, with nothing behind it. It'll be fine.
