Finally recieved a Sencore CR70 Beam Builder to hopefully fix what might be a G1 short on my dim green tube. It appears I have to attach the universal adapter to the tube but having read through the manual (what there is of it) I'm not exactly sure what pin goes where or what settings I need to dial in before switching it on and testing the tube.

My pj is a BD808s, generally what type of tube is used for these pj's or where could i find that info on the tube itself?

Anyone have experience in using a CR70 that could point me in the right direction, my biggest fear is not setting the builder up correcly before turning it on and blowing the tube.

Did the Barco Data 808 S model use the 180DVB22 tube ?

I know the BD 808 did but not sure about the S model...

Do you have the Sencore CRT setup book for the various tubes ?

Hey Tom,

Not sure if that tube is the one used for S model, I've got the setup book and have been looking through that, none of the adpators that came with the unit will fit so Im thinking that the universal adpater clips are the ones I need to use. I downloaded the chart you had on the forum some months ago that shows the pin location for P19 tubes and a sony 09MEX2 and was going to pin it out to one of the MTPD charts and try it.

But thought it might be worthwhile asking on the forum if I can do any damage if its not pinned corectly.

The P19 tubes are 9 inch tubes and the BD808 uses 8 inch tubes. Yes you will need to use the universal adapter.

Any labels on the CRT's ?

Are you sure it is a 180DMB22 and not a 180DVB22 ?

I thought only the Marquee used that tube ?

Settings for the 180DMB22....

Set bias at 132v

filament voltage at 6.3 v

F1 is pin 9

F2 is pin 10

K is pin 8

G1 is pin 5

G2 is pin 2

The only difference being the 180DVB22 has G2 on pin 6 not pin 2. Does it look like the neck boards were modified ?

Thanks Tom, the neck board doesn't look modified to me so I'm beat as to how a marquee tube is used in a BD808s Confused

I'll give the settings you posted a try and see how I go, thanks again mate Smile

Barco puts a sticker on each board and CRT with the same number on it. Do all the numbers match ?

With some patience and a strong light, it is possible to see and trace the
pinouts to the grids on the tube neck. You will not want to mix up the G2.

The serial number on each CRT socket is R762508 and is the same for all three sockets. According to the Barco service manual this is the correct socket for the BD808s and it seems to be the same as shown in the manual.

I've uploaded a pic of the connector below

eMail Sencore and ask for the pinouts... they provided the pinouts to me for P19. Double-check, tho, as their database had an error on the P19LCP.

The information I provided is from the Sencore CR7000 CRT setup book. 280 pages devoted to various CRT's and where to attach the leads.

I do remember Terry saying there was an adapter he could provide that sits between the tube and the tube socket that can be used to swap the 180DVB22 with a 180DMB22 without any modification to the neck board. Never seen one though...

What was the error ? That was one of the CRT's not listed in the CR7000 setup manual. Sounds like we need a PDF of the Setup Manual as it appears to no longer be available... Wink

You can also verify the pinout using the service manual of the projector in question.

This appears to be correct as provided by tse...

Never made it into the manual (I have a -70 anywho) but Sencore tech support has a database with more pinouts. I was sent a screen grab with the parameters for the 70 and 7000.
It was that PDC from Scott that allowed me to save three P16s and three P19s (so far Wink )

DMB have G2 on pin 2. DVB's have G2 on pin 6. Looking at that neck board I don't see anything attached to pin 2. Your Barco requires pin 6 G2 (look at the back of your PCB there is no connect to pin 2)
Therefore if you have DMB tubes running in that machine then you must have oin 2 jumped to pin 6 on the tube itself. Pretty easy to check. Take an ohmmeter and see if pins 2 and 6 are common.
There was a small pcb that was used by VDC in FL that goes under the white cap on the end of the tube that jumps pins 2 and 6. It is soldered in place but you can usually see it below the cap.
You could also take the cap carefully and use a wire to jump pins 2 to pin 6.

Terry,

Tom & I discussed this point this morning I think it had him stumped how this tube could work, but I had a longer and closer look at the connector and you're right there is a jumper connecting 2 to 6, I take it the brown wire arrowed below is what you are talking about?

I ran the CR70 tests on the tube this morning and everything sits in the good zone, so no G1 short causing the dim tube , so there must be something further back causing it, maybe the jumper?

Try going to the random access menu than picture tuning. Then color balance

Is the projector set to 6500 degrees kelvin or custom ?

Next cursor down to custom White balance and hit enter. What are the numerical settings for Red and Blue ?

Write the numbers down for reference and then do the same for custom Black balance.

In this menu you can adjust Red and Blue relative to Green as Green is fixed.
