I'm running a PS3 through a Moome EXT-HD to a Marquee 8500. I was just displaying the GetGray SD overscan test pattern when I noticed some flashing/flickering in some areas of the screen. The blue had flashing bars across the top and bottom areas, the red was flickering on some diagonal lines, etc. It would flash for about a second, go normal for about a second, flash, etc. I don't think it was doing it in the green at all.
I popped the GetGray disk into my Momitsu SD DVD player (also running through Moome via DVI) and the flashing disappeared.
I'd like to hook up a monitor directly to the PS3 to isolate it, but I don't have an accessible monitor with component or HDMI inputs. But the fact that replacing the PS3 with the Momitsu (with nearly the identical video chain) made the flashing stop sure makes me suspicious.
Has anybody seen anything like this before? Any guesses what might cause it?

I figured out what it was. The GetGray disk uses short clips that cycle back and repeat. The PS3 does the flicker/smear/etc stuff every time it cycles back and repeats. Not very cool, but it's not a problem when watching a movie. You can pause the PS3 if you don't want flickering test patterns.
