We're a bunch of GUYS (mostly) here OK? I don't come here to read through some craptastic feel good gushy movie script from the Lifetime for Women network. If you can't play football, stay off the field. If you INSIST on playing, then protect your nuts.

The only thing I see wrong with this thread is it's in the wrong place...it should be over in Off Topic. Cool

Dang it! I just finished my first craptastic feel good gushy script! I'm sending it to liketime and Oxygen. I was gonna post it here as well.... Crying or Very sad

I asked this:
Could you possibly take a picture of the tube faces so I can see how much wear or tube burn it has? This is a good projector, and I'd like to learn more about it before bidding. Thanks!

He replied:
NO-SORRY,BUT MY STARTING BID IS $10-AND AS I SAID,HOME UNIT,WORKS FINE-SOMEONE WILL GET A BARGAIN,START BIDDING-THANKS!!

I think these 2 posts really contradict themselves.

My 2 posts do contradict each other and I shouldn't have joked about it in the first place. I was wrong and shouldn't even have joked about doing it as people may take my recommendation seriously.

Wow, if I knew I was gonna start this at the beginning I wouldn't have posted.

Personally I posted this (and teased the ebay poster) because I'm tired of people too lazy to list critical things in their ads.

- Craigslist ads that don't give a phone # or email address
- ebay ads that leave out shipping, or location, or pictures, or etc, etc, etc

I'm trying to purchase your product. Yes, I'm looking to get it cheaper than new, but at least help me out a bit. I'm risking my money, the product may be defective, it may be a scam, UPS may beat the item to sh*t before I get it. Anyone who's spent 15 minutes on the interweb knows that ALL CAPS=YELLING. Throw in that hideous green font and what appears to be nothing more than one giant run-on sentence due to the weird choice of formatting and you get my choice of words in emailing the ad lister. I thought someone might get a kick out of it, so I posted my conversation.

Tom (or the guy called Axl)

That's the damn problem with this internet thing, its so easy to take things out of context. I'm sure I'm not the only one who laughed and took it as a joke.

I did however watched because I'm curious to see what it goes for. A $10 crt within a couple hours of me is always intriguing, regardless of whether I need it.

The thing is if he just spent a few minutes to learn how to look over the unit he would probably get so much more for his item. The hours on machine and tube wear are important things to any bidder of a somewhat obscure item.

EXACTLY. He's lazy, doesn't care, and to top it all off is an *******. If he wanted to do that on his own, that's his prerogatie. But now, we know that he's selling OTHER PEOPLE'S STUFF. He's not even a consigner... The person who owns the projector would be the consigner - dumbass is a consignee! Auction Drop and iSold It are consignees. Of course, he's not really either if he's not taking the stuff. If he just lists the items, then technically he's just a broker. But, since he doesn't know what the hell he's doing, he doesn't know that.

Anybody who's doing any volume at all on ebay and has half a brain would've looked at some ebay selling tip guides - that would have fixed the all caps/green issue in a hurry. Even a low volume seller would also be using any one of the free or cheap auction management apps with simple templates so your listings didn't look like ass... But, he's too ignorant to do either. Now that I know he's a broker (and possibly consignee), I feel really sorry for the people who's stuff he's selling. The guy is obviously a total bottom-feeder... Just making a buck and doesn't care about anybody but himself.

I loved Zebu's comic above, so I made a custom version you can all use anytime you like. Enjoy.

A consigner who can't put effort into selling his item? I'd be curious how successful he is.

I think that's the point of this thread. Some people have inherent customer service and marketing skills. Most do not. While some may have gone a little far, the thread has been entertaining, and probably enlightened a few of our forum members who do not have those skills.

I see no harm in this. I'm glad to know I'm one of the 12, and I'm not watching it to be a dick. I have a strange feeling most of the 12 have posted to this thread and are watching out of morbid curiosity. I have no problem with that either since that is part of my motive.

Nice! Change to "Curt's Forum" instead and I'll use it in the next newsletter! (Trying to get people to think of us as not only a CRT forum).

The little one (for special threads like these) is changed, and here's a bigger one for the newsletter or whatever.

I also emailed him asking for details about the tubes. It was a serious email before I read beyond the first few posts. Probably going to get a nasty response from him though. Thanks guys. Embarassed

So, anyone else thinking about bidding on this?

What do you guys think it's worth? I figure it's worth $300 including roughly $170 for shipping.
