Hi...new to this particular forum, but I'm hoping someone can help. Does ANYONE have a Barco CRT projector that has the Limo or Lido line-doubler card? Probably would be a 70x, 808, 1208, 1209 or 1609 series. I'm not looking to buy it, but I would appreciate anyone who has one and would answer some questions for me. Also, info on the RCVDS 05 with the Lido would help. Thanks in advance !!!

The LIMO/LIDO line doublers & scaler cards are known to not be very good given that they're so old. Scaler technology has come a long way and you'll likely get much much better scalers even in a cheap Blu-ray or DVD player.

Anyway, I have all of the manuals and spec sheets for them online here:

Hi Kal. Thanks for the reply. I realize that these are not very good line doublers, but anyway my question still stands...Does anybody have one or have seen one work in the physical U.S. ? If you can answer this question, then I will give you the details on why I want to know Smile I CAN make it worth your while if you can help.

This is a pretty open forum with people looking to help others... you shouldn't have to bait people to help you. Give us the questions and people will help.

Kal, you are correct. Sorry for the shameless bait.

My question is really as simple as stated. I am at heart an A/V enthusiast and an EE. However, I am currently consulting for a particular client that simply needs to know if anyone has personal knowledge of a Barco CRT projector that has the Barco Lido or Limo line doubler in use within the U.S. and is willing to discuss it with me. I realize that this forum (or AVSforum or others) is not exactly the best place to ask general info like this, but I am running out of leads. If you or anyone else has a Barco PJ with the Lido or Limo, please PM me so that we can discuss. I apologize for being so vague, but I want to make sure to not post anything inappropriate to the forum.

Short of full on projector for sale. You would be hard pressed to post anything inappropriate to this forum. We're a pretty laid back bunch here.

No problems. That's a different story then. Good luck!

It may not be the case if if they're up to using something different than LIMO/LIDO, there are a lot of much better external scalers available that'll do the trick. I think you'll find that most people here who even happened to have a LIDO or LIMO in their projectors simply tore the thing out and tried to sell it (usually for cheap) as they're just not really that good.

The other person who might know of a US member with one is Greg Eisemann.
Ile, Spotmatic or MadMrH, are very good Barco resources, they may know of someone.

I just fixed up a BG808s last night and it has a LIDO installed--I have never seen one before. Seeing the on-screen text say: "Source 1 Video 31.4khz 60Hz" was new..

If you need pics or info let me know.
