They don't rebuild them. If they are rebuilt, they come from VDC.

I remember hearing that some of the first generation VDC rebuilds had problems. What tubes are you looking at?

Same here, though I'm not desperate. With my luck I'll fall into a better machine before I ever find better tubes Wink

just how much "better" are we talking about. Are you guys looking for perfect used, or would a condition 7/8 blue be a considerable upgrade?
I have a blue like that if someone is interested? I'm actually looking to get rid of all my Sony trash, errrr i mean parts Laughing , and it's about half gone now.

I may be interested in a 7-8 blue tube if the wear is wide and even. Mine is about an 8 condition at its worst but it has three distinct wear patterns with the center being worn the most and then two lesser worn patterns around it.

But then again I may be picking up a semi-local G70 soon with better tubes.

Draganm,

Do you have any pictures of the tube. I'm also interested in the case from the G70 that you're parting out. If you have some pictures we may be able to make a deal.

Thanks,

Erik.

ps- any chance you have a green in similar condition 7-8?

no, all the greens here are crap. I don't have any pics of the B tube either, my digital camera is on vacation with the wife. I have a couple of nice cases/covers here though, condtion 9 out of 10. I'll post the tube pics ASAP, end of next week.

Hey, if you guys play musical covers and somehow somebody ends up with a spare hinge and the screws, I'd happily send some cash for it. One of my hinges is a little dinged up and missing a couple of screws. It's the only thing on the machine that isn't in excellent shape.

Thanks,
SC

Used from a fellow forum member, rated at 9's which will be a big improvement for me, should be here in about 10 days.

I was offered a new set from a member of the other forum, he was a new member with no previous posting history, so I asked for pics and part numbers and to include another object in the pics so he did not use stock pics. first his camera did not work, then he did not have time, then he told me he sold them to a cash buyer. I had the feeling I was being scammed.

Oh, great! You'll love that thing once you get it all tweaked. I no longer have any upgrade-itis whatsoever in the projector department. Any jump I'd have to make to replace the G70 is so for out of reach, it's not an option - nor will it be for some time to come. So, there's one piece of equipment I don't have to think about upgrading for awhile. Wink

You were well advised not to buy "rebuilt" tubes. I've not had to deal with any rebuilt tubes other than Marquee ones, but they were not good tubes. Personally, I wouldn't spend a dime on them, you might as well buy 6 rated used tubes, because thats what "rebuilt" tubes will look like after about 500 hours of use, but the original factory 6 tubes will look MUCH better after ANOTHER 500 hours...

I'm Curious, who are you getting them from? And how much if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks,

Erik

it was worse than that. Some of the early rebuilt G70 tubes imploded and trashed the PJ. this was back when G70's were still commanding big bucks.

you were either going to get scammed or in for a lumpy ride none the less. for a seller To really do a transaction right takes a lot of time. It took me 3 hours last saturday to remove a set of G70 c-elements and box them up with a set of lenses . If the seller can't even take a simple pic then the follow through with the rest of the transaction is just a nightmare waiting to happen.
hopefully your new tubes arrive safely. I would have the seller take off the heavy focus coil to protect the small, fragile P16 tube neck from cracking which is fairly common on G70 tubes.
