Anybody know of an IR controlled outlet or outlet strip. I need one amp to turn on after every one else and he needs to turn off before everyone else (the new Soundcraftsman doesn't like something called a switching transient)

X10 not useful to me in this application because an all off or all on command for the lights would turn this off or on as well.

I've seen the Xantech AC2. Kinda pricey

There are also some taiwan or china made ones randomly found in google searches

Anyone have any other suggestions?

X10 has what they call Appliance Modules. You set the code at the module and on the remote to match. All other modules or dimmers are left alone. You can plug it directly into the wall or into your power strip/conditioner/etc. I use one in my theater and 3 RF dimmers for the 3 zones of lighthing. I haven't found any unwanted or stray RF emissions that would booger up audio or video. <shrug> Works for me and they're inexpensive and modular.

I bought a little device that plugs into the wall outlet and receives IR signals and translates them to X10 commands. This allows you to use the same remote for everything. Depending on your remote you may be able to set up a macro that would send the command to the X10 device that controls the amp where you want it in the sequence.

Hey guys. Thanks for pulling my head outta my @$$. I totally forgot the appliance modules did not respond to All off All ON commands. The IR543 is what I interfaced my pronto with X10 to control the lights with and I have been very happy with it. Hopefully that will be the answer.

Ray,

This Smarthome module for $15 is better than the X-10 Appliance Modules:
http://www.smarthome.com/2002shl.html

The relay is much quieter than the clunky relay used in the X-10 module, and the address setting is electronic instead of the little dials.

Also, many of the Smarthome lamp and switch modules with scene capability can either respond or not respond to the all on/off command - depending whether they're used in "scene" mode or not. FYI.

Thanks again. I have noticed issues with the less expensive modules i.e. not responding to commands failing , in my opinion WAY too quickly. I'm going the smart home route

You are an informed fella. Thumbs Up You're absolutely correct...the appliance module has a very authorative CLUNK when energized. In some ways tho, it seems to fit in with the whole theater experience when back in the old days in the theaters (more so on stage tho) when the lights were turned on there was a very loud KATHUNK from each light. At least that's what I remember from a very old single screen theater in Newburyport, MA near where I grew up.
I can accept it but I see what you're saying. For some people quieter is better-er. Very Happy
