We got nailed by a wicked t-storm last night. My wife was watching the emergency weather alert warning of heavy t-storms with large hail and tornadic activity. I was about to pull the plug on everything in the house when BAM, we got hit with not one but two lightning strikes within five seconds of each other. I was not in the theater but my wife and son were and they both claimed to see sparks fly from the 4600HD. Power was restored about 3:30 AM. I re-connected everything and damn if that 4600HD didn't power up as if nothing ever happened Laughing All night I feared the worst. I was actually picturing my self on the phone with Curt, ordering up a fresh 9500LC Ultra. That was soon squelched by a perfectly normal start up. The 4600HD lives to fail another day Thumbs Up

I dunno Chip, this Ampro-baiting just isn't as much fun without Pete around... Smile

timf, if He missed with TWO lightning strikes, then I'd say there must be an Even Higher Power keeping that Ampro running!! Laughing Either that or Gino is right and God was using the Cosmic Defibrillator on it!

I got hit with the same storm but I was lucky that we didn't get any power surges. I had everything turned on and was watching stuff on the projector!

Ahh so it worked.

You see God has a sense of humour and is lulling you into a false sense of security waiting for you to post how great the Ampro is then.........BAM!!!!!!

Third time lucky Smile Smile

I'm sure there was an eleventh commandment "thou shalt smite all ampros" Laughing

God has mercy on the weak and lame, that's why he spared the Ampro.... Mother Nature wanted it gone for misrepresenting the beauty of the colors she created.

It never ceases to amaze me at how far some of you get being so misinformed. The only projector I've ever seen that produce better color representation out of the box is a NEC , and not by much. Many of you continually bash the later models of AmPro yet you've never even seen one. Most of you base your bashing on comments made by someone else who's never seen one. But that's OK. It keeps the prices down Laughing I am laughing at you all Wink

Actually, the 4600HD survived because Ampro rolled into that chassis all the design changes over the years caused by Spellman power supplies!

Of course there is "a" God, what exactly that God is has yet to be determined. God is a state of mind. Neutral
