I shipped out a minty G70VR about 10 days ago, across Canada. I haven't had shipping damage in 2 years I think. At first, it didn't look too bad:

But looking at it from the front, how the hell did Canadian Freight/Epic manage to destroy this aluminum?

And THANKS Epic for destroying 2 of the tubes:

It is fully insured, follow along to see how long it takes for THIS claim to get settled? Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down Thumbs Down

The blue is probably intact, but nothing gets done until this thing gets inspected. I've got two G70s here needing tubes...

Is everyone done fighting over the hunk of crap Sony parts Wink My guess is that the transportation Co. will bail on the claim stating that it was incorrectly packed. Curt knows the drill.

It ain't "minty" no more Rolling Eyes

Exactly. It may be insured and the shipper may pay up, but it ain't exactly like Sony is making another one to replace it. That's one less G70 chassis that will grace somebody's HT. Sad.

Looks like that corner took the brunt of a fall. I'd say it fell from a forklift or lift gate and landed on that corner. Wouldn't take much elevation when there's 200 or so pounds of projector and crate landing on the corner.

If it had been in a road case, it might have survived. The padding might have even taken enough of the shock out to have saved the tubes. Maybe.

Mike
and it only took 2 replies for the vultures to start swooping which is funny since "good used G70 tubes" are as almost as rare as those VR lenses. When you guys gonna learn that Curt uses ALL the good tubes he can get his hands on, he doesn't sell them Wink

maybe, but the G70 has all those heavy yokes hanging off a P16 tube with a very narrow neck. I have a couple here that cracked which were never mishandled or shipped by freight.

i have c-elements here as well as standard non-VR lenses if your LTB.

What a frigging shame. It's hard to even look at that mess. Thumbs Down A moment of silence please..........

Speaking of claims Curt, do they send an inspector or are pix good enough? When my first 8500 got mauled by DHL they sent a dude old enough to have diapered Christ to inspect it. Don't get me wrong....nice guy, but he didn't know what the hell he was looking at or what it was SUPPOSED to look like. I was worried I was going to get screwed unintentionally by his lack of exposure to CRT pj's. I had to give him copies of the setup manual pages relating to the damaged areas so he could attach them to his report. Mine got speared by a forklift first while enroute...and then hauled out the back of a DHL van by one guy...who let it drop 3 feet. Then he cat walked it up the driveway...and then let it fall over onto my garage floor. Rolling Eyes

No Mike we are not vultures. We are opportunists. Kinda like the guy who shows up as your house is burning down to sell you roofing and siding, since your gonna need it and all. 8)
