I bought a cheap (but nice) monitor here in Korea. It is a 20.1 inch MOTV monitor which is totally generic and was a great deal (about $230), but when I hook up my HDFury to my PS3 I have a little problem. When there are certain shades of darkness on the screen I see vertical lines about 3/4" or 1" apart. The monitor is a 1680X1050 so I realize the highest res I can get out of it is 720p, but I have searched long and hard and have seen nothing regarding these horizontal lines. They are not white lines or black lines, but merely differences in the shading or contrast or whatever. Aside from that everything is awesome and the HDFury was worth every penny. Does anyone have any info they would be kind enough to impart upon me?
Thanks,
Wayne

Sounds like it could be a ground loop. Do a search ...

Tom may have the right idea. Can you post a picture of your lines?

well honestly I think the lines are too faint to show up in any pic. I have tried to isolate the HDMI to DVI cable and make sure it is touching absolutely nothing else and I still see it. Could the ground loop be coming from anythin else than the HDMI to DVI to HDFury setup? It's not a big deal really, but when I picked up this HDFury I expected perfect results, not pretty good ones, only because I hadn't read anything negative about it. My friend and I ordered them together and we both have similar monitors. My PC resolution looks fantastic on it so I wonder if it's an HDFury issue.

Nobody's asked, yet... Do the lines move are are they static?
The reason I ask is vertical lines don't sound like a ground loop to me. I'd be more suspicious of a scaling artifact. If you're inputting 1280x720p, the display's driver has to scale the input signal to the size of the LCD panel. Different displays do that differently - some are good and some aren't. You have a couple things to try, and then you can report back... Try a different res on the PS3 and check the results. 480p? 1080i? If the display will handle it, 1080i might even be a good match for the LCD - it's higher-res and closer to the LCD. Also, try connecting the display to a PC and see if you can force 1280x720p and see how it looks on the PC.
