I thought that, but maybe that's just some audio component on top... The knobs seem a bit odd for a CRT PJ.

That last PJ is a Sony VPP-720 or VPP 700. Circa 1980-82.

You're only halve right as it is the VPK-720 Color Projection system. The projector being an VPP-720, the rest being the processing and control boxes(would have to look up the respective codes). 1982 sounds a tad late as the 722 was available in the late seventies, Wolfgang Mayer, for instance, started out with the 722 three-box set-up in '78/9, and sold it in 1982.

It recently went for 126.?? euro on the German Ebay. Its tubes had been replace years ago as the replaced SD-102 tubes with discernable wear patterns were offered as a seperate item.

Electrohome Showstar. 90lbs, 3xLCD, 900 lumens (1200 for the ShowStar Plus; 1600 for the ShowStar Extra) via a 650-watt, 1000-hour metal halide bulb. 150:1 contrast.

It featured a backlit remote good up to 100 feet, and a user interface available in five languages. It also included a built-in line doubler, and with RS232 control could be chained for use in stacked or edge-matched projectors - which could also be factory color-matched.

It debuted in 1996 for $18,000 US.
