Never used one, but I have seen one, but it did not have the SDI installed. I may still be able to get it, I just emailed the guy, and hopefully he still has it.

I didn't want to say too much about this, but I reliably understand that the well-known Dutch HD SDI conversion of the Sony BDP-S1 takes the data from the HDMI driver, rather than from the decoder, which is usual for SDI. I'm pretty convinced abouts the benefits of SDI & HD SDI, but not with this sort of implementation, which doesn't offer the advantages that it ought. People who buy the mod may not know about this, and will probably be wasting a lot of their money. Of course, given the scale and nature of the modding operation, it could be that the process has improved since then, but I still think it's a case of buyer beware.

I understand your interest in that bit of info, I can assure you that this is not the case at all, or should I say the way you are implying, meaning that all the HD-SDI mods are taking place using the data path from the decoder to the HDMI chip and no where else
you certainly know what you are talking about and are obviously knowledgeable about this, that is obvious but just so there are no misunderstandings or confusion tapping into the video data signals that are open on the PCB's sometimes has to be done at deinterlacing, HDMI and other chips, I don't think this is what you are saying is happening nor do you seem to be confusing this
the video data is worthless after the HDMI chip, one must gather these signals as the come out of the decoder chip, they can be gathered at the input stage of HDMI chips
I could provide much more detailed info on this but I am not privileged to do so, that being said these mods are not being done the way you are saying they shouldn't be which is the good news if you want to PM me I can describe things better at what is gathering data from what
thanks Nick
