Never mind the "up to" 47% off, some of these titles are almost 60% off. Not all old titles either.
Examples:
Cloverfield $16.95
Fifth Element $11.95
I Am Legend $15.95 (Watched this for the first time a couple of nights ago. Scared the crap out of me!)
Some of the other titles are $10-11

I always like when titles I've placed in my Amazon pre-order list actually go down in price before I order.
Why would they sell something as new as Cloverfield at such a low price? I don't get it. Normally prices go down after a few months but this one started off low and just seems to be going lower. Not that I mind however, I'm buying more for my Blu-ray dollar.

Definitely a scary movie. One scene in particular is just scary as hell. Kal will know the one I'm talking about. The way they shot it... Will Smith's acting - very believable. Pretty close to being on par with one of my other all-time favorite scary sci-fi flicks, the original Alien... At least as far as being dark and scary, and it is PERFECT for a CRT projector presentation.
With anything that's trying to be scary, I've always thought the less you see the better. They did a pretty good job with I Am Legend of showing you just enough without showing you too much. That which they did show was pretty scary. Of course, I love practically anything post-apocalyptic in nature, as long as it's well done.
Kal's opinion on kids is just right. Definitely not pre-teen, and not even teen unless they're OK with scary/disturbing stuff.

I think the disk has an alternate ending....I keep forgetting to watch it, has anyone see that yet?

I watched the alternate ending first by mistake and didn't even know it! I'm not the only one it seems, the menu is horribly done/confusing.
When you pop the disc in it asks if you want to watch the "Theatrical" or "Alternate" version. Obvious enough, I picked "Theatrical".
Then went into the menus to look at the sound options and was presented with:
Note the very top line. It's really confusing when you're in a hurry. I thought I was already playing the "Alternate version" so I switched but actually ended up switching to the 'alternate version'. I didn't notice the bottom line until later.
I like the Theatrical version better.

P.S. 100% agree with SC about things that you don't see being scarier than what you can see. They really build up the tension in this movie, not only with what you don't see but also with all the things that the main character does. By his actions you can just tell there's something really bad-ass out there.
P.P.S. Without giving too much away: He never should have followed his dog into that building. That was nuts. He lucked out in the end.

Kal, his dog was his only real friend - his companion... That he followed the dog, knowing exactly what danger awaited him, really showed just how devoted and attached he was to the only friend he had. Basically, he couldn't NOT go in after the dog.
The strange "relationship" with the mannequins also showed his loneliness, isolation, and his dire need for interaction and relationships - that he couldn't have. What would you do and how would you behave if you thought you were literally the last man on earth? It's bizarre to even think about. I guess that's why I'm so fascinated with post-apocalyptic stuff.
For being a big Hollywood movie, and considering what they could have done to it, I thought it was a damn good movie. I also liked the theatrical ending best.

I would agree the theatrical ending was better. I thought the alternate was too cheesy. Overall I thought it was a good movie , and I agree that he was a little nuts, but I think we would all be going through what he did.

Hi,
Theatrical ending was much better (unless I have the 2 mixed up... I agree the menus are not so good.)
I would have followed the dog (yeah,... sure... like I can really say what I would do in the main characters shoes.)
Because... the dog was one main source of any sanity he was able to maintain.
