Guys!

My movie rental store cratered about eighteen months ago and I just got around to joining another one two weeks ago. I rented 3:10 to Yuma, Legend, and last night it was Cloverfield, which seemed to have been shot on a cameraphone, pretty weird. In twenty-five posts or less Smile tell me what other movies recently released are worthwhile to see/rent, and a short explanation why you liked them.

Don't know if you like crazy action carnage films with a point, but Rambo was REALLY well done. Plus it has some accuracy in regards to whats happening in Burma right now. Good....There will be blood was really intense too. Some people found it boring but I watched every second of it and would watch it again tonight.

Casino Royale(BR). It was smart, and nicely done. The new producers are taking bond in a more serious direction. Very nice visually. And a good lead in for the new Bond flick this fall Quantum of solace http://www.007.com/

I am Legend.(BR) It was better than i expected. Sharp and well produced. Looks good as well

I really enjoyed Blood Diamond.

I'd have a hard time describing why I liked it but once I watched it became one of the movies in my short stack of keepers.

If it's the best video/audio quality you're after in Blu-ray movies, see the list of Must Have Blu-ray titles that I manage. They're the absolute best video/audio quality available. There's also a smaller version of the list on the right hand side of the main page of www.curtpalme.com.

Not necessarily the best movies of course, but definitely the best looking/sounding movies out there. For example, Jumper is a HORRIBLE movie, but it looks and sounds great! Wink To make the list the movie has to rate at least 90% in terms of combined A/V quality. Very few do.

You can get to this list by clicking on the logo in the top right that looks like this:

No country for old Men - slow dusty and fatal,... not too popular with the guys who prefer lots of visual stimulation like "Crank" but if I could only watch one movie from last year this would be it.

Pans Labyrinth - a surreal fantastic trip- big screen eye candy. Aesop's fables mixed with WWII facism

Waitress - score huge chick flick points with the wife, and get to enjoy a great movie

The diving bell and the butterfly - NOT a hollywood blockbuster, but all your subtitle movie fans gave this two thumbs up.

Ratatouille- fantastic animation, family fun and looks great on the big screen

Iron Man - Hollywood blockbuster and ear to ear grin, now I remember why I enjoyed comics so much as a kid.

I really liked all of those as well jask. Waitress is exactly the kind of chick flick that I enjoy. A good movie is a good movie, regardless of what genre it is.

I went thru my blockbuster rental history and picked out the more mainstream movies. Many of these I haven't seen yet (ripped but not watched), but they all got very good revues:

The Illusionist

The Prestige

Flags of Our Fathers

Stranger Than Fiction

Borat (if you like really (and I mean really) gross-out humor)

Letters from Iwo Jima

The Host

Hot Fuzz

The Bourne Ultimatum

Michael Clayton

I Am Legend

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street

There Will Be Blood

Juno

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead

American Gangster

Beowulf

Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford

Michael Clayton

Gone Baby Gone

The Simpsons Movie

I've never cared for James Bond movies. Casino Rayale is a BIG exception. Really good movie!
