Gary, with your HDCP bypass, does this mean I can output over HDMI with HDCP stripped?

Gino that is a good question, you should be able to if you set the HDCP to off in the output setup
more info soon

sorry Cliffy, I don't think I can make that happen, I really wanted to

You can, Ken has my VP50 Pro. Isn't he pretty close to you? |
Where abouts near chgo are you? I am up in highland park... I have a VP50 (non pro) and could get em done together???
I will toss in my HDFury for free if we can make this happen!
I had a VP30 that had a software enginerring bypass for HDCP, but I sold that unit... The only bad thing was that once that firmware was in there, I couldnt upgrade any new code from DVDO.. I hope this 'fix' still allows for software updates... |
Scott, if and when I offer this, it will be 100% hardware

guys, this is available now for those interested
at this time it is available for the VP30 and VP50 units, VP50pro coming soon
to recap, this is a HDCP bypass, what that means is that the HDMI output is free of HDCP(with it set to off in the output menu) and the RGBHV analog output is fully active as well
both of these outputs can be active(HDMI without HDCP and RGBHV)because this mod removes the HDCP on the input side, so the scaler does not see HDCP as being active on the input side
the way the DVDO works is that the analog RGBHV output and HDMI without HDCP can be setup to function on a stock unit but when the unit sees HDCP on the input side, it blanks the image, this mod removes that
this is hardware no software based so software updates have no effect, it is not user installable, unit must be sent in, price will be around 350$
this will be well worth it for CRT/Scaler users because you can dump the HDMI conversion units external or internal, the DVDO will be handling the digital HDMI input and RGBHV output and there is nothing better out there in that regard
PQ will be very close to SDI in/RGBHV out on DVDO units, plus you can do any custom analog output resolution and with Belden 1694a cables you are all set
PS3, Xbox, BD, HD-DVD, D-VHS, Sat, Cable any HDMI source in and RGBHV out from a high-end scaler, simple as that

Just to clarify, this is for projectors that do not have HDMI input card (such as Moome card), right? How does the PQ compare to the HDMI at 1080P?

Just to get this clear: does this mean that the DVDO will be a replacement for the HDFury & co. (with the added benefit of scaling possibilities)? That would be a real killer, but is it allowed under the HDCP rules?

exactly, HDMI in from any source, RGBHV output, the DVDO units have very high-end DACs and professional grade BNC output setups on the VPXX units
why worry about HDCP and DVDO, forget them and enjoy what this brings
this is not cracking HDCP, or disabling it, it is a bypass that breaks no copy protection schemes or etc.
I look to be able to provide this for the Edge and pro soon as well

I would like to see this mod on the Edge because it has so many hdmi inputs and 2 hdmi outputs (one for audio)
Please add custom resolutions and 1080p@72, then the Edge is a huge bargain

That is a bummer. I was getting ready to ship my VP50 off to have it done.
