The G70 boards were waiting for me when I got home today. Ripped the box open, stuck them in the G70 and about five minutes later it was up and going again. Right now I'm watching a 720p picture, not converged, not fitting the screen, with ambient light filling the room but it stills looks beautiful to me. Very Happy

Thanks a million,

Erik Thumbs Up

I'm hoping he can perform a miracle and bring my G90 YA board back to life.

I'm with you, Haydn. If Sony has discontinued their flagship PJ and moved on to the digital world, I don't know why they don't just sub out service to Curt (North America) and John(Europe). Why would they want the headache anyways? Besides, John and Curt are EVERY bit as capable as any of their CRT service techs (Actually, "tech" since they only have one guy left). The only difference is that Sony has access to a proprietary chip that no one else does which is hindering the CRT community from being able to bring these things back to life. Hopefully, Curt can find a line on these chips and then we won't have to worry about it anymore. I think it's an EASY fix for someone like John or Curt if they just had access to the correct parts for the job.

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

I completely agree. This is 10 year old technology so what are they trying to protect. I wonder if Curt or any of the other guys has approached Sony directly to find out if this would be doable. Heck, don't Barco outsource it's servicing to third party techs. I also heard that the G90 test mule in their servicing dept broke down last year too.
