I know this is for CRT projectors, but since the innards look the same, I figure I'm safe.

I'm in the market for new tubes for my RP CRT TV. Its livable for what I use it for, but I see occassional cheap new replacements that would be a nice investment.

It seems most CRT HDTV tubes all have a PT16L...... prefix. Do they have the same pinouts, and are they interchangable?

I'm concerned at the lack of adjustment flexibility that CRT PJs have will cause the picture to render incorrectly.

WHat model TV? VDC has many RPTV tubes in stock from what I have heard.

What do you mean "lack of adjustment" BTW?

Angus, I think the "lack of adjustment flexibility" that you're referring to is usually in reference to people trying to take the guts out of the RPTV and use it as a front projector. In that case, you're talking about major changes in keystone, pin, skew, etc. that the set was never designed to accommodate - and therefore simply won't.

The kinds of adjustment you're talking about from changing tubes (as long as it's a proper replacement with correct specs) would be well within the limits of adjustability built into the set's service firmware.

In short, as long as you find a suitable replacement, you should be good to go.

That remids me. What's the number for VDC? I need to order a new set of CRT's for my 42" RPTV. They have over 7000 hours on them already.

Or maybe he doesn't know about the service menu?

I think he meant "the lack of adjustment flexibility that CRT RPs have". That's the only explanation I can think of, since the OP says he has a Marquee!

Yeah, that's exactly what I'm concerned about. While I don't see a need for any of that in an RP TV, my ignorance to CRTs makes me wonder if a Tube would "work", but may use more, less, or whatever of the raster. I wouldn't think it should, but I'd rather ask a few people who know before I throw money out the window.

Oh I know all too well of that damn thing. Ever try and converge one w/o the original remote. That's enough to make the Pope suicidal.

Never tried that one but I once did a 1271 that was hanging from the ceiling. My arms were very tired after that. Believe me I didn't forget the remote the next time.

Philips 60" something or other. I was at Philip's website, and they wanted close to $450 per tube. For the price of 3, I'd rather find a 7 or 8" with lots of parts roaming the wild, gut the Philly, and put PJ in there.

They are P16LTG00. Not sure I want to buy some from VDC. I keep seeing an occassional Mitsubishi 65" CRT pop up which is infinitely better IMO, and newer for next to nothing. If I'm going to sink a decent chunk of money into something, I'd rather it be that.

I'd just like to keep it going without spending a ton of money, and keep my out for something better, and if it is still viewable, demote it somewhere.

Anyway to tell if it is a suitable replacement?
