After viewing comments and questions on this forum over the last few years, questions on how to fix seem to come from more projector brands than others. Which ones are considered the most or least reliable?

Least = Digital, followed by the Ampro 4000 Laughing

Sony, Barco, and Electrohome are all similar in terms of reliability. The newer the model the better too of course.

Ampro power supplies are known to be problematic.

Frankly it seems to be all over the map. A lot depends on how the set is installed in it's current and previous life.

When it comes to max amount of chassis hours, give me a BArco or an E'home. Might have some repairs in there, but they can be repaired. I don't find the later Ampros (3300, 3600, 4300, 4600 to be any less reliable than other sets.

Late model Sonys have their issues, I'm slowly getting up to speed on the G90s.

NECs- chips go bad, system boards go bad, but there are enough spare parts out there now to keep them all going.

Right now I have 6 people looking for Marquee LVPS. I'm completely out. For a change I've got a decent amount of BArco quadruplers.

Zeniths (PRO 900s) have a lot of bad solder joints.

After you passed on receiving any of these parts at any price months ago, I listed them in the Buy/Sell forum and I've been surprised that no one has inquired about the LVPS or other Marquee spare parts:

I guess I'll bring them to William's blendzilla meet. If he doesn't want them as spares for his blendzilla, I'll dump them on his door prize table.

For some reason I keep forgetting about that...

Shoot me an email to curtpalme@shaw.ca. I'll take the HVPS.

I must be on your ignore list, PM'd you 2 or 3 times in the last 2 months and never got a response. Sad

Nope... I don't even know if this forum has an Ignore feature, but you certainly would never be on it.

I just checked my PM and don't see anything. Several PM's from others who bought VNBs and some tubes. Received several PMs from others asking about compatability of M8000 parts with M8500/M9500.

My PM Box is 93% full... shouldn't be a problem, but let me delete some messages to make some more space.

Let me e-mail Curt for the 4th time and see if actually wants any of this stuff... I'm still unclear from his note above if he needs the HVPS or the LVPS. I just wanted it all out of my storage closet, but I've still been tripping over it.

Is there some reason LVPS' can't be repaired? I'm aware of the restrictions of HVPS repairs.

The inbox is cyclical too so you'll never miss a PM. If it fills up, the next PM knocks the oldest out. I actually prefer this to an inbox that can completely get filled and then you have no way of reaching someone... (like at AVS).

I've had PM problems too from time to time. Works for the most part though.
