Those were a total sleepers. I think I remember seeing one that looked like a Grama car in Powder Blue with white vinyl top.

Pete and I had a friend in our dorm that bought one of those in '86 or '87. IIRC, his dad died and left him some money.

Anyways, that was one bada$$ car... it had a digital speedometer... I remember breaking the speed limit in reverse Shocked

I also remember that he would hold his foot on the brake and press the accelerator... the car would stay in place but burn rubber at the same time.

I'm suprised no one has posted hotties yet! Thumbs Up

My friend Brian used to have a GNX. He had it souped up at ANS Performance in Chicago. That car was absolutely sick. Mr. Green

There was times that I couldn't lift my head from the seat at acceleration!

I finished my computer tonight. Whatchya think?????

I think our next joint Home Theater Meet ought to be there (the place on your desktop).

Not bad huh? I'm hoping to get her to 3.6 stable, but it's been rough. I've gotta switch to water cooling and I think I'll be good. Smile

Cliff,
Wow 1.48 FSB, now I know where you got your screen name from. Sort of surprise your running XP, but I guess tried and true is hard to beat. I honestly did think XP would show the 4 cores on the processer, but sure as hell does.

I've been arguing with the board in my HTPC. I like the specks on these new processor. I thought a 1mb L2 cache was good but those are sporting 6mb. I think it's time for an upgrade.

They go higher. The last one I built hit 3.6ghz rock solid on air with no tweaks. Just set FSB and go.

It was and still is amazing. What a bang for the buck.

The most important thing you can do for a new system is your I/O bandwidth.

The hard drive is the slowest component of a PC/Laptop.

Your so limited by that pipe it's scary.

All of the PC's I've done in the last 5 years use a Raid 0 for the OS.

The difference is night and day, especially with flash drives becoming slowly the norm.

Hey William,
Let me know if anyone might be interested in trying some halibut . I can send some for the party if you need more . BTW I just caught a 227 lb one last thursday so there is plenty for all to try .
Also if anyone is coming up to Alaska on a cruise this summer you are most welcome to drop by and say hello.

Hey Scott;

Did you get my PM? Beer battered fresh Alaskan halibut sounds wonderful. Shippin a 227 lb. fish could get a little pricey!!

Current List of Attendees for HT Party East:

The Great Don Wallace
The Legendary Mike Parker
The Ever Captivating Clarence (No Light Valves, please)
His Lordship Mr. Emdawqz1
His Lordship's Current Avatar (She really is into Blended CRTs)
The One and Only Cliffster
DropZone7
The Host
His Hottie Wife

Where's the rest of the Chicago crowd? Its an unwritten HT Extravaganza rule that the size of the Chicago crowd attending the Virginia portion of the Meet has to be at least equal to the size of the Virginia crowd attending the Chicago portion of the Meet. Right now the Virginia crowd attending the Chicago Meet = 5 (Me, Clarence, Don, John (he's close enough to Va, he counts) and John's current Avatar). The Chicago crowd attending the Virginia Meet =1 (Cliffy). What's up with that?

Gino?

Curt Palme?

Tim Martin?

Am I missing anyone?

Hey William,
Thanks for the invite. I will have to do some fancy begging to get any time off for that time frame. I will certainly give it a shot and see what happens. BTW What sort of improvements have you made since my last visit? I have not noticed any threads about your updates or improvements. (Unless it is super secret).

Hey William,

There's a strong chance that I will attend if there is space, but I'm not sure about Cheryl. Hopefully I can convince her to come, otherwise I might just claim John's avatar as my "escort" Mr. Green

PS: Ben, room is not a problem. Lots of room to park. Lots of room to roam. This HT Meet is goint to be unlike either of my previous Meets, and more like Art's Meet last fall. There will be a series of demos, starting with easy stuff, building up to harder stuff.

I really wish I could, but after looking at finances, I just can't afford to take 3 overseas trips in one year.

Dear Gary;

What do you have in mind? I have both a Toshiba HD-XA2 HD DVD player, and a Sony BDP-S301. I take the HDMI feed out of each, and put it into the Moome HD-MUX. The HMDI out (from the HD-MUX) goes into the Convergent Designs NanoConnect HDMI to HD-SDI converter. The HD-SDI output from the NanoConnect goes directly into one of the HD-SDI inputs on the Analog Way DVX-8022 BlendZilla scalar/switcher/blender. 1080i and 720p work flawlessly. 1080p/24 is a big PITA. It does not work out of either player, over the HDMI to HD-SDI video chain described above. I do not know if the problem is the Moome HD-MUX, the Convergent Designs NanoConnect, or the DVX-8022. If I had either a Blu-ray or HD DVD player capable of 1080p/24 HD-SDI output that I could feed directly into the DVX-8022 HD-SDI input, I could at least narrow the problem down somewhat. Do you have such a player available you could let me use for testing purposes?

William

William, HD-SDI output can easily be added to both those players for 1080p/24 HD-SDI output, you can eliminate all those conversions and strippers

likewise, the DVDO VP50pro scaler can be modified for HD-SDI output to feed the zilla and has dual HD-SDI inputs, that is the way I would go dude, talk about one pure & high-end signal chain Surprised

of course the VP50pro has a nice 1080p/24 output that would be output via HD-SDI and if you have any problems with 1080p/24 from the HD players just send 1080i in and the VP50pro will do a 100% perfect 1080p/24 conversion

you are talking some $$$ there, but.... Very Happy

1080p/24 is tricky out of HDMI from alot of the BD/HD players, most of them have to recognize the input device can receive it or not, a big PITA
