I made a couple of rails that attached to the bottom of the pj and some clevises to attach the threaded rods to the rails. I'll post pics later today. |
With all that extra weight and metal holding up your gear,you will want those clevis' attached to some stout nuts....don't want all that gear to come crashing down.
I only have an 8"  but the wife says it is great,she likes that I can get it mounted up so high.I was thinking all that extra paraphernalia was a bit over the top-but to be honest I think the extra support and added security of all the extra bracing would keep me from worrying during long and/or multiple performances. Lets face it this gear is getting old and failure is possible.

Okay, finally got some pics to put up. The first one almost shows the angle it is hanging at for near zero projection angle. I think it is about 1 or 2 degrees.

It's no virgin.... 4200 hrs, the green is about a 7.5, the others are 9.5 or 10, but for the price I'm a happy camper. Need a bigger screen now.

Wow, that thing definitely looks spiffy. Some of these machines look like they went somewhere dragged behind a truck instead of ON the truck. The black Runcos were especially sensitive because the scratch in the black paint revealed the lovely beige plastic. Your machine looks really nice and clean.
So, where is that machine hanging? A dormer? I'm wondering... Since there's no insulation on the bottom of the sheathing, doesn't it get REALLY hot up there in the CA sun? Even in winter?

It's in the loft above the 2 car garage, it's getting insulated and finished in a month. Installing vents and a fan to suck the heat out also. The room is 26 x 24, minus the stairwell and the low roofline areas. Makes it about 16 x 24 usable area but the screen is limited to about 84 wide. Yes it does get hot up there, sunday and yesterday it hit a hundred during the day which is very unusual for where I live. I'm about six blocks from the ocean and there is almost always a nice cool breeze.

I'm definitely going to have to move it farther away from the screen, the focus adjustments are as close as they will go right now.

I'm confused. Which focus adjustments (electronic or optical)? There is only 1 correct place to mount the PJ which is determined entirely by the lenses on them. Did you not mount it in the right location?

I put it in almost the same spot as the 1272, which is too close. I'm going to move it back about 2 ft so it will be about 120" from the screen. (when I get a bigger screen)

Just curious, how did you figure out where it needs to be mounted and where it will need to be mounted with the bigger screen?

I didn't really... I put it on a cart and positioned it so the internal pattern looked like it was about the size of the screen I intend to get and then tried to get it into focus withthe lens adjustments. It was too close so I just hung it where the old one was. I'll move it to the correct spot later, the mount can move front to back very easily. Too busy to work on it much right now.
