What's the deal with setting up a Barco 1209s? When I installed the old sony I set it up with the rasters maxxed out and with the tube faces very nearly perpendicular to the screen. Do I want to set this up the same way? The green tube shows some 16:9 wear, but only about an 8 and it looks like it is very rectangular with no keystone appearance. I would like to use all the phosphor I can but it's like peering into a fishbowl with the c-elements there. I haven't changed anything yet, but I'd like to...... Should I bleed these elements before doing anything else? I don't see any bubble at all. is it ready to blow a seal?

Yep, definitely bleed the glycol. It wont blow a seal, it will crack your tube when it gets hot.
There is a detailed procedure for bleeding glycol in the "advanced procedures" section (link at the top of this page)
Your mechanical setup will be basically the same as with your previous projector.
Level, centered, and perpendicular to the screen. Yes, do max out the rasters, but dont overdo it. remove the lenses if necessary.

Will the Iris be a problem if I do that?

If I were you I'd go no further until I located, downloaded and read the installation manual. If you do the physical part of the installation correctly, you'll have far fewer issues and questions later. Paint by the numbers and you'll have predictable results

I've read it, might not retain it all yet but I'll be sure to read it at least 3 times.

I've never used the IRIS, but from what I hear it sucks.
It is only beneficial for doing a rough convergence if you are doing a presentation or something. It will not converge your projector anywhere near as good as a manual convergence.
I dont understand what your question is about it being affected, but dont use it.

The lenses seem to not fit well on the chassis. Almost like there is a misalignment of the lens mounting holes. Could the sheimpflug adjustment be so far off as to make it difficult to get the screws in? I have not changed it yet from where it was when I got it.

What lenses are you trying to install that "don't fit"? You should have some form of HD-10 lenses. They should fit right on. Were the lenses on the projector when you bought it or shipped seperatly? If someone sent you HD-8's, they won't even come close. Perhaps you could post a picture of the situation.

These are the correct lenses, no labels on them but they are some form of HD-10. It just seems that the screw pattern isn't exactly centered around the c-element, making it a little tight when installing the screws. I have tried swapping the lenses around and the red tube is the worst. All three lenses fit tight on it, like the tube is not centered in the bolt pattern. The screws are not crossthreaded or anything like that, they fit perfectly in the holes without the lenses on.
