|
|
I have had a Barco 708 projector for 8 years with no problems. Today I tried to hook up a new Blu-ray DVD player through the Moome EXT-HD box. My first issue was the vertical sync which I learned required taking the Moome box apart and changing a jumper wire (JP8) - no problem. My vertical sync is now fixed but the video output is horrible. It is as if I am not getting any green signal - among other things. I tried to change the polarity of the sync to positive (JP 6 and 7) but to no avail.
Has anyone successfully set up a Barco 708 or similar projector with Blu-ray and the Moome box? I sure could use the groups input here.
Thanks in advance,
BBJ

Put up a white test screen and make sure that the green colour is what you're missing by looking into the tubes. Ie: is the green tube off?
Then figure out where the problem is by swap the BNC blue connector with the green connector on the EXT-HD. IS the blue tube off now instead of green? If yes, there's a loose connector inside the box likely and Moome's repair person in Canada can fix it. He can be contacted at moomefix@curtpalme.com. Moome pays for shipping. Though if you're handy with a soldering iron you can probably do it yourself too.

Kal,
Thanks for the response. The green tube is illuminated but the picture is horrible - a pink tint on everything.
I set the Blu-ray player to 1080i and connected it to the Moome EXT-HD via a HDMI cable. I then plugged my projector cable to the output of the Moome box (RGBs). I can't help but think there is something to be done at the projector but I am at a loss as to what that might be. I knew it wouldn't be as easy as plug and play but boy am I dissaponted at the moment.
Didn't you say that you are running a Blu-ray player on a Barco 8 series? Would your setup be similar to mine?

My setup:
PS3 -> HDMI to DVI cable -> HDfury/RTC2200 combo -> Cine 8 Onyx
I've also done:
PS3 -> HDMI cable -> EXT-HD -> Cine 8 Onyx
Something makes me think you may have wrong settings in the Blu-ray player maybe? Using either RGB or YCbCr should work however... I tried both on the PS3 when I tested the EXT-HD and it worked great.

Kal,
Dumb question: I assume I will need to now go through a complete recalibration/reconvergence of my projector now that I am passing it a completly different signal. Maybe that is why I am getting a picture but it is all pink and blue.

Thanks Kal, do you think that accounts for my pink and blue picture?

Most likely. You certainly need to set it properly before you can know if there's an issue. Or at least do a quick 5 minute convergence to see.
The better question is: Did you set up the other projector memories and converge it yourself originally? If you say no and you've never done this before then most likely what you're seeing is simply because it's not set up.
Take a picture of the problem displaying the internal test grid patterns (genlocked pattern) and post it here. We'll tell you in 2 seconds if it's simply because it hasn't been set up yet.

Kal,
The original set up and convergence was done by Pat Bradley several years ago. After an overzealous technician fiddled with it (while I was out of town) I had to perform the setup - so I have done it. I will admit to not knowing how to store settings in the projector's memory - I guess I need to figure out that step. I guess I have a project for today

All you have to do is select a genlocked pattern (Adjust, then source menu) while the BluRay signal is going to the PJ, then you can go into either the guided or random setup. The settings are stored automatically and are applied to that particular sync pattern.
