My sources run thru an HDFury so 1080i is all I have right now, Do I really need to go to 1080p?

Depends on your screen size and viewing distance. I can tell you that with my minty G70 at 1.2-1.3x screen-widths from my 8'-wide screen, 1080i scan lines are pretty obnoxious. I'm sure that machine is even sharper, so if your viewing distance/screen size relationship is even close to mine, 1080i probably won't cut it.

Come on, spill the beans... what'd you pick this bad boy up for?

Congrats on your new acquisition!

If the machine is in working condition and the tubes are usable then it should have ranged from $4K (average to some wear on tubes) to $6-7K for minty tubes.

C'mon, tell them. You're really going to piss off a lot of people. It'll be fun. Wink

Okay, I just bought a Runco 1100. It was a good price so I had to do it. So long to the 1272... The tubes say P19LPB03xxx. Are those the original tubes?

LPB03's are identical to the P19LUG high performance tubes with the exception that the LUG's have a KH grid or Grid 3 which come out on pin 7. This grid isn't that important (picks up electron scatter) so the LPB03's will perform almost identical to a LUG.
I'd doubt the lens's are Hqf 900's but are more than likely one of the late model varients of the lens's Barco uses.

I've looked at the lenses sticky thread and they look like either hd-10's or hqf-900's. How do I tell them apart?

Due to the shape of my room I'm stuck with a small screen. The one I have is only 72" wide and I have room for 86" max width without moving some plumbing. If I move a vent pipe I can get up to 96" wide.

Move the vent pipe. That thing will be plenty bright at 96" wide. I've got a similar projector but 8" and am getting almost 14 ft/L on a 96" wide screen of around 1.1 gain (measured bounced off the screen, 100IRE 10% windowed pattern).

HDfury and Moome's EXT-HD are pretty much the only two options for Barco's that are currently being sold. And the EXT-HD is currently sold out with no news of the next batch.

Wow... some of that stuff is too expensive for me. I'm on a low budget and only got this PJ because it was SO cheap. I'll be sticking with low dollar stuff, my ex and 3 kids get most of my money. My existing screen is pretty small, I think 1080i will be okay for a while.

How does that iris camera work and what exactly does it do? Does it do the convergence and keep it tuned up or?

Those cameras wont do very good job with geometry and convergence. There was some Iris menu (in installation menu I think), then it flash few minutes some grids and outcome sucks. So I removed camera and Iris2 board from my 808s, unused decoder board had same destiny. Very Happy

1209s lenses are usually HD120, those should be rebadged HD10GT17.

How small and how far back do you sit? Scanlines will likely be *very* noticeable on this set at 1080i.

Wow, you're sitting x3 screen widths away? That's pretty far back. You may be able to get away with the scanlines then.
I'm twice as close: My first row is about 12-13 feet from an 8 foot wide screen.

I know it's a long way from the screen, but most of the harem prefers that distance.
