Is anyone familiar with the spot burn phenomenon with G70's, like what the primary cause is or is there is more than one thing that can do it?
I need to know specifically if a failure of the GB power supply board could do this?

thanks dude, I flipped through that thread and also Terry's on AVS. It seems to confirm my inclination to avoid the G series Sony's like the Bubonic Plague.

I haven't seen this yet, but I'm guessing that it could be a Pa board problem as well.
Keep in mind that the spot burn on the G90 was caused by an end user that was uploading firmware or something like that. Not that it should have happened, but I think if I ever uploaded firmware to ANY set, I'd disable the HV or pull the CRT sockets to prevent damage to the tubes.
If draganm's spot burn was caused by a board failure, that's something different entirely.
