A year or so ago , this resistor on the CRT out board on Green burnt up . I replaced the resistor with the same 1k value 1/2 watt . 2 weeks later it burnt up again , so I installed a 5 watt ceramic resistor to measure the temperature , ran it for hours and the resistor stayed dead cold , left it in service for a week or two and same thing happened , burnt the inside of the resistor out . After much testing I concluded there must have been a intermittent short in the VDC tube so had it replaced under warrantee , never had the problem again .

Now the Blue VDC tube has done the exact same thing . the red tube is OEM and the resitor is perfect not even discolouration around the board . I have measured the resistance of all three tubes at all the points around the cathode and they are the same.

So I ask what the hell is the problem with these tubes and why are they popping this resistor Evil or Very Mad
has anyone had this problem ??

thanks

Yup, I've had that too. An intermittent h-k short in the tube will take out that resistor. If it's still under warranty, call or email them NOW so they get your note before they get the tube in case it's stuck in transit. Get a NEW tube replacement and pay the $100-150-ish surcharge to go from a rebuild to the new, you won't regret it.

I don't know why they have these issues. I've contacted Charlie and he can't explain it either.

Wonder why it leaves the 47ohm resistor in tact ??

This tube is years out of warantee , and decides to play up now , typical !!!!
