so the DVI will accept 1080p24, but it won't output 1080p60 or 72 or 75 etc, correct?

Correct. It will output 720p/72 (actually a little higher resolution than that also) and 1080i/72, but not 1080p/<anything>.

The HDP will do 96 Hz refresh rates within its bandwidth capabilities (such as 1080i/96).

Right I have a newer HDQ and run 800p@72 for scope movies but I think the older DVI will do the same.

Dave Are you sure you cant output 1080p@48 like I do with the HDQ? The DVI should do that?

It depends upon the horizontal resolution. 1920x800/72 is getting REALLY close to the limit of the DVI, it might be over it, I'm not sure, I'll have to check.

As an aside, I'm just curious, obviously 1920x800 is the active image area for 2.40:1 releases, however, many scope movies on disc have ARs less than that, down to and below 2.35:1. Do you run 1920x817/72 for 2.35:1 movies or just scale those down to 1880x800 and side mask or scale to 1920x800 and side mask? Do you use the Lumagen or the projector to mask off the side areas (just curious as I like to know what people are there are doing Smile).

On the DVI's menu, it has the same behavior as the HDQ and HDP in that if you enter the output resolution as 1080, it asks you interlaced or progressive. If you select progressive, it comes back with something like "invalid value". I think I've tried doing it with lower refresh rates, but couldn't get it to do it. I think the software basically has code to stop the DVI from doing 1080p output.

Has anyone else been able to get the DVI to accept 1080p/24 input?
If so, were you able to scale to 1920 X 800/60 or 1920 X800/48 from that 1080p/24 input?

I do 1920x800p with no side masking. just straight 1920x800p@72 on my HDQ. pans a silky smooth. but doing 2.35 is a lot more dim than 16x9 screen material, this is why i cant wait to blend, full phosphor usage. I cant wait mid June is here and the TV-ones should be in soon!!!!!

Did you try 1920X800/72? Did it work?

That was for Dave since I understand you have an HDQ.
