I own a Sony VPH 1272 . My blue tube went out and is not showing any power/light

Think the tube is dead? Or could there be something else causing the tube not to work?

I'm not a tech guy, so I have no idea how to trouble shoot. Thank You

PS, I'm amazed how good the picture looks even when the blue tube isn't working.

If it goes out again after heating it could be bad VPH06 in neck board.

Well the tube didn't go out, but the picture wasn't as sharp as before. The whites look a little bit yellowish and dull. Not a true white like before.

I didn't hear any weird cracks or pop noises.

When the tube(s) go out try pulling up an internal test pattern to verify if its a source problem or not.

Ok, Think I'm making headway.

If I turn on a test pattern such as the RGB, All tubes are working.

I use a Sony Switcher box, If I turn that on, the blue tube goes out.

So I'm assumming the switcher box is bad. Sound reasonable?

Don't assure,

Hook the source up directly and see how it looks

Good possibility. I would try bypassing the switcher next to verify the problem is gone.

Not sure how to do that, the cable fron the switcher box goes to the projector.

You're saying run say a dvd player to the projectors rgb card and bypass the switcher?

You normally cannot plug a dvd player into RGB, but for the test purpose just plug it into the composite video input

Bypass the switcher, yes, but I dont know what your options are without a description of you source chain or a pic of your source devices. What model switcher? RGBHV from switcher to projector? Devices connected to switcher, how? Composite, Svideo, component, vga????

If you mean connect it to the projector's composite input, this would not help diagnosis his problem. You would then be bypassing the RGB input of the projector and the problem may be there. He needs to keep testing on the RGB input before moving to another input on the projector.
