I asked the seller for the model #, but I haven't received any response yet.
Does anyone know if this is worth picking up?

Looks like a retro adapted for FP. Barco?
That could limit the screenwidth unless you change lenses and toe in.
They're usually LC. Make sure it runs. The LC has a bad habit of leaking and dripping onto the boards, corroding them useless.
Is that case OEM or homemade?
If it's close-by and runs, peek through the lenses and check for toast. If you need another project, then sure it'd be worth picking up. Unless it's from a really old retro, you should be able to get 1080i.

I agree, it's a retro set. THe position of the IR sensor gives it away.
Usually they are G808s with MEC tubes like the ones I got (no 's' on the end of mine.)
Offer $250 tops and see what the seller says.

If it is a split it could be a 808SVS (I think that was the model) which would make it very recent... I thought (when I was trying to buy two on ebay ) they may have Cine8 Onyx grade electronics and HD215 lenses...

They made a lot more 800/801 retro's if what is for sale on ebay is any indication. If its an 800/801 retro, its not even worth the $250. maximum recommended offer...
You can't gauge value without a LOT more info. For instance, even if it *was* one of those split case 808svs, it STILL wouldn't be worth squat if the tubes were crispy brown...

Yeah, I had a Retro 800 and it was split like that. It had a lot of aluminum in the chassis, which you might recover some cash from. But you're not getting much $ for the parts, and you're not getting much of a projector if you run it. That case is obviously home made..
At least the footprint is smaller than a regular 800!

Turns out I should have read a little closer. The unit was offered for free, but by the time I emailed it was already taken.
Oh well.

Don't be too broken up by it, even free, if it was an 800/801, that's not all that great of a deal...

I have a 1272 (and I installed a 1031q at my parent's) but I haven't started to build my home theater, so I keep an eye out for a cheap upgrade if it comes along.

I also have a 1272, we should get together and compare notes, as my theater is about 80-85% complete. I also scour craigslist and local ebay for an additional 12xx for better tubes and or parts. My plan is to build my video chain with an inexpensive CRT ( scalers, cable, splitters, receiver upgrades, etc ) then go for a higher end CRT once my skill level has risen ( and the prices have come down )
