Well I've got 3 weeks holiday coming up which I'm very much looking forward to Smile
Oh can someone tell me what distance apart and how much side angle to give the beasts once on the ceiling?

Reasonably close and angled so the centered green tubeface image fits the screen.

you SUCK, and yes, the glycol is bad. When getting projectors from planetariums, they're projecting black all the time, so there's little tube wear. Watch for pinpoint phosphor burn from stars and planets though.

In January I'm getting in 9 Barco 1209s from a planetarium as well. Some have new tubes, others will have slight wear. Will get my 909s running, and will sell stuff CHEAP! Smile

Keep me posted Curt, i shall grab a few spares.

If it was sunlight id expect it to be rather uneven, and probably have buggered C elements.

I know they were well maintained, i spoke in some length with Phil about them on the phone, but they were indeed sitting unused for a long time!!

Phil is a great guy, I must admit I've drained that guy of tubes boards pjs etc over the last 5 years lol. In total I've got 4 sets of Lugs plus 8 909's off him over this period. The one I'm still burnt over was the cine 9 I missed for 1500 going back 3 years.

No question about that, i was very impressed with just how quick he got back to me and was quite keen to help!! Do you know if Phil still has any gear come up from time to time? I will grab some items if so.

The last we spoke he told me that was it, everything they serviced was finished, I suppose if he
ever has something come up from elsewhere he will let me know. I don't need anything else but will sure as heck notify you if you're interested.

Well I set one of these puppies up just for kicks and with the half arsed setup I can already see a difference in sharpness with my 1209, not a lot but noticable Smile
BTW I have a click every now and then and the image is shaking slightly, any ideas?

That might be a question for Phil mate, he will probably know exactly where the issue is, but itll likely be the quad id say. Try swapping that out and see how ya go Wink

If Phil did the astig on these i would expect awesome sharpness!!

I had a problem like that as I recall it was the splitter.

Mate I can see a massive difference in text alone Smile
He's in Fiji atm so can't ask him lol.

Quad or Splitter as Keith suggested? Well I thought it might have been the horizontal deflection board for some stupid reason,

Nah i wouldnt expect the boards to be at fault, id say itll be a HV arc of sorts.

That may not mean the EHT board but that there is no EHT.

Ive had that come up a couple times on mine, there is a circuit on the EHT board that shuts off EHT in the event of certain circumstances, such as a HV arc...

The quad is harder to get to, but the splitter needs soldering...

Is the quad fitted to yours the proper 909 part or a 1209 part with the focus wire blocked off?

If its in the splitter you may be able to hear it. I know mine had a gentle hiss that if you listen carefully you could hear. It can be hard with all the fan noise but see if you can hear anything coming from the splitter.
