On your receiver, not in your head. I have tried different "music" modes and am not impressed. I mostly play CD's though. So what do you prefer ? I realize everyone will have a different opinion and its just a preference. I have a friend who swears that anything but pure STEREO is just wrong.

The only thing I've heard that I though was better than pure stereo was when William showed me the glories of SACD on his theater sound system. Very impressive, but that's real mutichannel, not an effect.

Stereo. On occasion I'll listen in 7 channel stereo, depends on what the material is and the mood I suppose. Wink

Whatever the source demands. If it's a CD I usually use the pure direct stereo setting. However whenever I can I listen to the SACD/DVD-A/Blu Ray Audio versions of things in multi-channel mode.

I only use my own diy tube gear. Vinyl -> tube phono preamp -> 6v6 integrated pp amp -> b&w speakers. ANYTHING digital just sounds annoying and "fake" to me at this point.

No cd's, no mp3 or other digitial format, just pure analog.

Pure direct for vinyl 2 channel, from a Rega P5 turntable/Exact cartridge, Bellari tube phono pre-amp and Denon 3805.
can't stand multichannel music though
